BASHH is committed to promoting and supporting environmental sustainability within our specialty. In 2024 it endorsed the formation of a joint BASHH  BHIVA (British HIV Association) National Sustainable Healthcare Special Interest Group (Sustainability SIG) . BASHH is considering sustainability in all its activities including governance and education. 
 
The below '10 Steps' document is a practical guide to support sexual health and HIV services in reducing the environmental impact of the care they provide.  It has been produced by the BASHH BHIVA Sustainable Healthcare SIG and endorsed by the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare.

BHIVA and BASHH declare the climate emergency a health emergency

BHIVA and BASHH have joined a growing number of leading health organisations in formally declaring that the climate emergency is a health emergency. This declaration recognises the significant and immediate threat that climate change poses to public health, healthcare systems, and health equity.
