The STI Foundation Competencies Training course is for any suitably experienced health care practitioner who wishes to become an STI Competency trainer or to revalidate as a trainer.
Who can register as principal STI Foundation Competency Trainers?
- Consultant Physicians/ Senior Nurses/Senior Health Advisors (GUM/SRH/HIV)
- Advanced Clinical Practitioners
- Associate Specialists, senior clinical practitioners, GPs with a special interest in sexual health
- Holders of valid Advanced Competency - can train on all competencies
- Holders of valid Intermediate Competency - can train up to intermediate competency with relevant experience
- Holders of valid Sexual Health Advising Competency - can train on SHA competency
- All Registered STIF Competency Trainers are required to be members of BASHH.
Trainers who wish to train on NHIVNA qualifications only do not need to be BASHH members if they are members of BHIVA or NHIVNA.

You do not need to be a BASHH member to join the training. If you are not a BASHH member, you will need to become a member before you can be registered as a competency trainer.
