
BASHH are pleased to introduce a new series of masterclasses for BASHH Fellow Members in 2025. These are focused on supporting BASHH Fellows to navigate and respond strategically to some of the challenges they are facing as senior leaders in their sexual health services.
'Demonstrating our Worth: contracts and coding' will focus on how the information we code translates into outcomes, impact and value, as well as understanding contracts and tendering and how the information we code translates into outcomes, impact and value.
'BASHH Fellow Masterclass Series' has been approved by the Federation of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom for 1 category 1 (external) CPD credit.

Dr. David Phillips, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust
Consultant in GUM Croydon Health Services from 2009, BASHH Gen Secretary 2020-2024, BASHH Vice President 2024 to date. With more than 20 years in GUM and service lead for 10 years, Co-Chair of BASHH-FSRH Info Group 2015-2024, and one of the clinical advisors to the development and roll out of the original integrated sexual health tariff, David has an in-depth knowledge of the mechanism of coding and tariff system. More recently through work with BASHH board, London Providers Forum and clinical advisory group to London Sexual Health Programme David has been looking at systems to capture the complex work we provide.
Elizabeth Carlin, Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Consultant and Service Director in Sexual Health at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (SFHT) (1995-to date) and Consultant at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) (1995-2022). Since October 2024, NUH and SFHT have worked in collaboration to deliver the Sexual Health Service Nottingham and Nottinghamshire (SHSNN) across Nottingham City and County.
Elizabeth is a Past President of BASHH, has held several BASHH Officer posts and has been the Chair of the RCP / BASHH Joint Specialty Committee for GUM. She currently represents BASHH on the RCP Health Inequalities Advisory Group.
She has developed guidelines, contributed to national standards, produced tools to help those facing a competitive tender and has led services through tender processes.
Elizabeth has been actively involved in contract discussions and performance management for many years so understands the challenges that can arise and the importance of engaging and acting strategically.
