The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) accredited the BASHH content development process as a mark of quality between 2010 and 2024 before closing its accreditation programme in July 2024.

BASHH guidelines are developed to reflect the best available evidence and expert consensus at the time of publication. However, users should be aware that first-line medications recommended within these guidelines may not always be available in all settings due to local, regional or national pharmaceutical supply issues. In such circumstances, clinicians are advised to use appropriate alternative agents listed within the guideline or to follow local formulary guidance, while continuing to apply the overarching BASHH principles of evidence-based and patient-centred care.
