Chair of the regional BASHH; also acts as the regional adviser to Royal College of Physicians: elected by general BASHH election on a two year term that can be extended by a second two year term.
Branch Secretary: Elected through regional ballot, this is a three year term role.
Branch Treasurer: Elected through regional ballot, this is a three year term role.
Members of Higher Training Committee: Elected by consultants in each Training centre to represent their centre in the committee. There is currently no time limit for membership of higher training committee. Other members of the committee include the post graduation trainees’ representative, and the representative of Health Education West Midlands- Health Education England. The committee is responsible for coordination and supervision of the specialist and higher training in genitourinary medicine and HIV. The committee works closely with Health Education West Midlands- Health Education England. Chair of the committee is appointed by Health Education West Midlands.
Members of Audit Committee: The members are elected through regional ballot. This is a three year term role. The Chair of the committee represents the region in BASHH Audit Committee. The members are responsible for coordinating national audit projects, design and implementation of regional audit projects, and provision of regional and centre specific feedback on the results of completed audit projects.
Members of HIV Network Committee: Elected through regional ballot. This is a three year term role. The members are responsible for monitoring and feedback of HIV care standards to the member centres.
West Midlands STI Steering Group
The group regularly reviews West Midland’s epidemiological data on STI and HIV, and produces reports for the benefit of sexual health clinicians, and commissioners. The group meets every three monthly at Whittall Street Clinic, Birmingham.
