Agnes Kocsis is a Consultant Clinical Health Psychologist with a special interest in sexual function, sexuality and intimacy, working at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Psychological interventions in therapy for sexual issues can take many forms, but as a neuropsychologist she is especially interested in how our developing knowledge of brain structure and function can inform therapeutic approaches. Physical difficulties, such as arousal disorders inevitably affect and are affected by our thoughts, emotions and experiences. With David Goldmeier and John Helps, she has developed Mindfulness approaches to sexual difficulties, including a protocol for running classes to teach the use of Mindfulness meditation as a component of therapy for sexual and intimacy difficulties. She sees working jointly with medical colleagues as essential in sex therapy which is a meeting point for social, physical and psychological aspects of ourselves.
