Ms Belinda Loftus
Nurse rep (co-opted)
I have worked in sexual health since 2001, identifying very quickly after completion of nurse training, that Sexual Health was the speciality I wanted to focus my attention on. Initially a member of the Armed Forces (Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps) delivering sexual health services for military personal and their families both home and overseas and in peace and conflict. In 2006 I then went on to work within NHS Sexual Health provisions, including with Community Interest Companies, which is where my current role is.
I have been a member of BASHH since it was known as the MSSVD, have been the regional nurse representative for Yorkshire, and more recently the treasurer for the Sexual Health Advisors and Nurse Specialist Interest Group. My interests have been the development of nursing roles and training pathways within Integrated Sexual Health Services, including the development of the RCN resources, service delivery models and encouraging those outside of specialist services, in particularly nurses to engage sexual health in their wider conversations.
