Dr Elizabeth Carlin

Dr Elizabeth Carlin is a Consultant in Genitourinary/HIV Medicine in Nottinghamshire in a district general hospital (Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) and a university teaching hospital (Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust).
She qualified from Sheffield University Medical School in 1984, trained in general internal medicine in Manchester and Aberdeen, and completed specialist training in Genitourinary/HIV Medicine in London at St Mary’s, Central Middlesex and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals. She was appointed to her current post in 1995 and has been Head of Service and a Service Director for more than ten years. She is also Chair of the Local Negotiating Committee (LNC) and a member of the regional LNC Forum.
She is currently the President of BASHH and has been a Board Officer since 2010. She has previously been Vice President and General Secretary of BASHH, Chair and Secretary of the Clinical Governance Committee, Chair of the Trent Branch of BASHH and its predecessor the Association of Genitourinary Medicine.
Her main areas of clinical and research interest are service delivery, HIV antenatal care and genital skin conditions. She is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care. She is the author of UK and European Guidelines on Sexually Acquired Reactive Arthritis, has written national job planning guidance, developed tools to help BASHH members with tendering and contributed to the first editions of the Standards for the Management of Sexually Transmitted Infections and the Standards of Care for Women with Vulval Conditions.Back to the list of BASHH Board Members
