Dr Alan Tang
Dr Alan Tang is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV in Reading, Berkshire in a district general hospital, the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
He qualified from King’s College Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1983, trained in general internal medicine in the Whittington and Edgware, and completed specialist training in Genitourinary/HIV Medicine at St Thomas’ Hospital in 1990. He was appointed as Consultant in Greenwich, South East London in 1990, and moved to his current Consultant post in 1992.
He is currently the Chair of the BASHH Clinical Governance Committee (CGC) and has been a Board Officer since 2014. He has previously been Secretary and then Acting Chair of BASHH CGC, Interim Chair and Secretary of the Clinical Standards Unit, Chair of the Oxford Branch of BASHH and Lead of the Prison Subgroup.
His subspecialist interests are in genital dermatology, male erectile dysfunction and sexual health in prisons.
He has contributed to the second edition of the Standards for the Management of Sexually Transmitted Infections and the new Standards for STI Outreach Services.
