Education Committee

The Education Committee was established in November 1993. The membership is decided by the President in consultation with the Board. There are three representatives from academic centres, one outside of London; two teaching hospital consultants; one consultant from a district general hospital; a junior doctors' representative; and the Officers of Council. Members are re-elected annually to a maximum of three or four years. In 1998 it was agreed to co-opt the chairmen of the Herpes and HIV Special Interest Groups to link the various educational initiatives and develop a more cohesive strategy.

The remit of the Committee is:

  • to assist undergraduate teaching in genitourinary medicine
  • to provide information at postgraduate fairs
  • to run courses and workshops for those working in the specialty
  • to be responsible for the Ordinary General Meeting and Spring Meeting Scientific Programmes
  • any other business delegated from Council as appropriate.
