What is 'STIFCompetency'?
- modular competency-based training & assessment package for non-specialist & specialist health care professionals requiring more specialist skills to manage people with sexually transmitted infections
- adapted from the Department of Health's best practice guidance 'Competencies for providing more specialised sexually transmitted infection services within primary care' (1).
- complements the recommendations made in 'Standards for the management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs)' (2).
Who is 'STIFCompetency' for?
- Clinical staff in
- General practice
- Reproductive and Sexual Health (RSH)
- Level 3 GUM services
- Pharmacists
- Other interested healthcare professionals
What does 'STIFCompetency' consist of?

Certification
Trainees who successfully complete any of the modules will
- receive a nationally recognised STIF certificate, verified by BASHH
- be registered on the national STIFCompetence database of accredited healthcare professionals
The revalidation process will be every 5 years details of which can be viewed here
